Latest Updates from Our Project:

We Spoke Too Soon
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 09:03:29 PM

Dear UA3 backers,

Well, we spoke too soon. When project manager Cam Banks sent out the last update we were about to submit the BackerKit set-up and survey for final approval and distribution. That turned out to take longer than we'd hoped and it raised a couple of questions that need to be resolved first, in the midst of the Origins game fair last week. Cam flew directly overseas from Origins, on a trip that has him out of the country and the office until sometime next week

End result: We do not expect we'll have Backerkit finalized and surveys out to folks until Cam is back in the office next week, so we want to make sure everyone knows and reassure folks who worry something they should have gotten by e-mail vanished to a spam filter or something.

We're very sorry for this inconvenience. If you have specific concerns, you can reach us at [email protected]. Others of us will be monitoring that mailbox in Cam's absence.

BackerKit Update!
almost 8 years ago – Tue, Jun 14, 2016 at 05:57:03 PM

Beloved cabal,

The time has come. Your accounts have all been added to our BackerKit project for Unknown Armies 3, and there’s nothing you need to do with that except wait for the email that gives you a survey link—hopefully in the next 24 hours! Once you click on that, you’ll be guided through the process of selecting your items, adding on any additional products or items you want, and then confirming your shipping address.

For some of you non-US international customers, we have worked out a plan for lower shipping costs to Europe for core book sets. This includes the set that comes with the $99 Checker level, and the Deluxe Set from the Charger level. When you go to your BackerKit survey, you may notice that you’ve got a credit on your account, which you can use in the BackerKit store. Those of you who have held back on pledging to get physical books because of shipping costs might find this new reduced international shipping appealing. Besides the lower direct shipping cost, our understanding is that using UK fulfillment will also mean the UK's zero VAT rate on books should apply.

We haven’t been able to reduce the shipment across the board (we expect that dice will ship separately from the US for example), but we hope that this presents a pleasant surprise to many of you who wished you could pledge higher but simply couldn’t.

One other note: we’ve included many other items that weren’t even on the Kickstarter as add-ons. Feng Shui 2 products are included for those of you who wished to look into our blockbuster action movie RPG but didn’t. All PDFs are supplied through BackerKit’s digital library. Check them out!

Unknown Armies 3: Cabal Check-In
almost 8 years ago – Mon, May 30, 2016 at 10:24:48 PM

Greetings, beloved cabal!

In the USA we are enjoying/enduring/working during Memorial Day weekend, the perfect time to stop and take a breather to update all of you on the progress of the UA3 Kickstarter project.

Here's where we are at right now:

  • All backers migrated into BackerKit
  • BackerKit inventory completed
  • BackerKit surveys almost ready to launch
  • Book One, Book Two, and Book Three in final edits (due July)
  • Book Four in outline (with Greg)
  • Book Five writers contracted and in outline stage
  • Campaign Starter Kit template complete and ready for contracts
  • Art almost entirely complete (due end of June)

Our biggest remaining hurdle with BackerKit that keeps us from sending out the surveys and getting pre-orders ready (for people who didn't or couldn't back the KS) is finalizing how the shipping costs are going to work. We've been in talks with a number of companies including even UPS and FedEx about our options. I hope to share that information with all of you soon - and get those BackerKit surveys sent out and done!

3 Palms
3 Palms

Thanks once again to everyone who has responded to specific backer Qs when we've needed them, to everyone who sent along their playtest feedback, and for your patience as we turn the wheel of production toward a really gorgeous set of truly disturbing books.

You Did It!
about 8 years ago – Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at 06:46:27 PM

Keep sharing the tapes
Keep sharing the tapes

You did it, folks. That's a wrap on the Unknown Armies Third Edition Kickstarter! At over $266,000 pledged and 2,819 of you backing this project, I can confirm that UA3 is officially a blockbuster success. From all of us here at Atlas Games and the UA3 production team, thank you for getting us past all of our stretch goals and all of our social goals. You are unbelievably generous and we could not have done it without any single one of you.

So What's Next?

For the next two weeks we're going to remain fairly quiet as Kickstarter goes through its usual processing and gathering the pledges. Soon after that, we will migrate everything to BackerKit, at which point the process of assigning pledged rewards and items can start.

BackerKit allows us to keep the window open for pre-orders and add-ons through the summer as Atlas Games attends conventions in San Diego Comic Con, Origins Game Fair, Gen Con Indy, and other smaller regional conventions. We're going to keep all of you updated on the progress of the game's production, and solicit more feedback from you as that happens.

A Note About the Gamma Playtest

Many of you signed up in the last 3 days and may still not have had time to grab the playtest versions of the game files in the Dropbox folder. You can find the link to that here. The folder includes 3 PDF files of game content and a PDF of instructions, as well as a few zip files containing free avatars and icons and wallpapers. Read those Gamma instructions for details about submitting your playtest feedback or comments about the rules to us. The deadline is May 9th, 2016 - the more feedback we get, the better the game will be.

Once again, THANK YOU for your pledges and for sharing the good news of Unknown Armies. We appreciate it so very much!
