Latest Updates from Our Project:

Bring your magick to the Edge with Over the Edge!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Jul 18, 2018 at 01:47:52 PM

Beloved cabal,

You might have heard that we're crowdfunding a brand new edition of Jonathan Tweet's groundbreaking roleplaying game of weird urban danger, Over the Edge. On our blog at atlas-games.com, we even talked a little about the two games and why they're different and why they might have cross-market appeal. That's buzzword bingo lingo for "hey, if you love Unknown Armies, we think you'd also love Al Amarja."

This is a game about an island in the Atlantic near the Canary Islands that has been under the autocratic but beneficial rule of a family of liberators for decades, and has attracted all of the world's strangest, most dangerous, and occasionally most impossible people to its unregulated free-market streets. Mad scientists, invasive dimensional species, warlocks, corporate assassins, and street gangs abound. Character creation is fast and easy and the system is dirt simple.

We believe it's so good we're even giving folks a look at the current development draft, just like we did here in UA3. So if you back the project, take a look at the first update from last week and see what all of the fuss is about. We're confident it's a whole new kind of magick.

All digital stretch goals complete!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Jun 29, 2018 at 10:56:20 PM

Beloved cabal,

It is with some small amount of relief and excitement that our production team can now declare all of the UA3 digital rewards and stretch goals to be complete. I've just sent out through BackerKit the final CSK, Kira Magrann's Sacred Pharma. I also figured out why many of you weren't getting email notification of these digital releases, so please excuse any sudden inbox swarm of emails from BackerKit - it appears the system is now catching up.

I want to thank all of you once again for your incredible support and patience this past few years for the UA3 project! It has been a labor of love for us at Atlas and our team is proud of the work we did. I'd like to especially thank the talented writing team of Jason Blair, Tim Dedopulos, Shoshanna Kessock, Sophie Lagace, Chris Lites, WJ MacGuffin, Ryan Macklin, Kira Magrann, Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, Rabbit Stoddard, John Tynes, Chad Underkoffler, Monica Valentinelli, and Filamena Young; the extraordinary graphic design and art team of Aaron Acevedo and Thomas Deeny; the ever-present editorial powers of Colleen Riley; master adepts of production oversight Jeff Tidball and John Nephew; and of course Greg Stolze, our fearless lead designer, who brings us all this world he and Tynes created years ago and refuses to let us go without ritual payment.

As always please send any concerns or questions to me directly at cam AT atlas-games DOT com. If you know somebody who missed out on the game, all of these CSKs are scheduled to go on sale at our usual e-book vendors, and they're a great way to kick off a long campaign of broken people conspiring to fix the world.

All the best,
Cam and the Unknown Armies production team

PDF Reference Tools Complete
over 6 years ago – Tue, Jun 12, 2018 at 03:06:29 PM

Beloved cabal,

Summer is here and the UA3 stretch goals are almost done. As Kira Magrann's Sacred Pharma starts layout (delivery expected next week to all backers) the PDF Reference Tools PDF is complete! It's going straight out to BackerKit today.

So what is this thing?

Since the KS campaign the purpose of this PDF has evolved somewhat to the point that it now incorporates three useful things:

  • Complete, exhaustive master index of all five books
  • Updated and revised GM screen reference charts
  • Form-fillable blank character sheets for avatars, adepts, and supernaturals/mundanes

Now, the one thing to be aware of is that the index refers to the printed books, except for Book Four and Five, which are to the PDFs. The page numbers on the PDFs of the core three don't always line up, but it shouldn't be too far off. We wrestled with how to do that but figured it'd be much easier to go with the print numbers than confuse the issue with listing both. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Best,
Cam and the UA3 production team

Stretch Goal Home Stretch
over 6 years ago – Mon, May 21, 2018 at 03:55:12 PM

Beloved cabal,

The CSK releases now number a grand total of six with last week's launch to backers on BackerKit of Karmic Ties and Fifth Wheels, Monica Valentinelli's foray into Wisconsin family reunions. Here's a summary of what's been released so far:

  • Raiders of the Lost Mart by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan (updated and corrected version)
  • The Young Practicals by WJ MacGuffin (updated and corrected version)
  • Violence Inherent in the System by Rabbit Stoddard (new!)
  • Heroin Highway by Chris Lites (updated and corrected)
  • Derby Girls Destroy DC by Filamena Young (new!)
  • Karmic Ties and Fifth Wheels by Monica Valentinelli (new!)

That just leaves Sacred Pharma by Kira Magrann, which is still in development, and the PDF Reference Tools, which is being assembled this week.

Videos!

There was another goal we set for ourselves during the UA3 campaign and that was to get instructional videos out to you. I'm thrilled to say that through the video editing skills of Renee Knipe and the potent GM presence of UA3 creator Greg Stolze, these videos are now available.

You can see the character creation video here and the actual play video here.

Cheers, chargers!

Two New Campaign Starter Kits!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Apr 30, 2018 at 07:59:06 PM

Beloved cabal,

By now, those of you who had signed up to receive Campaign Starter Kits from the UA3 project should have been sent links to grab the following:

  • Raiders of the Lost Mart by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan (updated and corrected version)
  • The Young Practicals by WJ MacGuffin (updated and corrected version)
  • Violence Inherent in the System by Rabbit Stoddard (new!)
  • Heroin Highway by Chris Lites (new!)

Here's the status of the remaining three CSKs.

  • Derby Girls Destroy DC by Filamena Young is in proofing after final layouts.
  • Karmic Ties and Fifth Wheels by Monica Valentinelli is about to go into layout.
  • Sacred Pharma by Kira Magrann is undergoing development pending edits.

The PDF Reference Tools are in the works. Mostly, these consist of a huge master index that links all five books together as well as including sub-lists that summarize things like all the spells in alpha order, all the magick traditions for adepts, all the weird drugs, all the GMCs, and so forth. The Tools is also going to feature added resources like charts, ref tables, and so forth. That's going to be the last thing in the queue.

We hope that once this all wraps up you will join us for the OVER THE EDGE third edition Kickstarter. For an email when that goes live, please visit the sign-up page:

Until then, peace out, fellow travelers.
